Psychopharmacology is the study of medications used in the treatment and management of mental health disorders. Psychopharmacology is also referred to as medication management.
Some patients are treated with medication alone, while others are treated in combination with therapy or other treatments. A psychiatrist is recommended when multiple psychiatric medications are prescribed or when medications require monitoring.
