Dr Palaniappan graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of London and completed her Psychiatric training in the UK. She is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and has completed advanced Psychiatric training in Old Age Psychiatry. She has wide-ranging experience having worked in the UK, New Zealand and latterly in Australia as a Consultant Psychiatrist and Psychogeriatrician. She has worked exclusively in private practice since 2018.
Dr Palaniappan consults on a wide range of psychiatric conditions affecting adults and older adults, such as mood (including bipolar affective disorder), anxiety, psychotic, cognitive, neuropsychiatric and adjustment disorders and patients with co-existing physical illness. She is a skilled psychotherapist providing targeted and solution focussed interventions in the provision of care within the recovery-oriented framework. Dr Palaniappan is committed to providing compassionate, holistic and evidence-based mental health care. She works collaboratively with her patients, carers and other professionals involved in their care to build their strengths and resilience.
